FUNCTIONAL POLYMER LABORATORY

We develop and study new functional polymer systems, in particular materials with advanced optic, electronic, and mechanical properties

The research group of Prof. Christoph Weder is interested in the design, synthesis, processing, exploration, and exploitation of new functional polymers, in particular  novel materials with advanced optic and electronic properties. Most of our research projects relate to these four core areas:

  Semiconducting Conjugated Polymers

  Stimuli-Responsive Polymers

  Biomimetic Materials

  Supramolecular Metallopolymers                                                            News

Our interests and activities are highly interdisciplinary and range from the synthesis of new monomers and polymers - which involves organic and  organometallic chemistry - to supramolecular chemistry, to polymer processing, to the in-depth investigation of the structure-property relationships of these materials. Our research is conducted in a project-oriented, collaborative fashion, and our group is the home of students and scientists with backgrounds in a broad range of disciplines.
